Salsa is a perfect dip in so many ways.

It’s loaded with veggies, making it simple to eat a serving or more. (Reminder: We are supposed to eat five servings of fruits and veggies per day!)

Next, it’s fast to make, with just a few ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.

Finally, it tastes fantastic, bold and full of flavor, either alone or with an entree.

There’s something you need to know about me: I’m a baby when it comes to spice level.

I cry when I’m told a food is spicy, because I know I can’t eat it.

I like my salsa very mild in flavor; this recipe delivers on mildness!

Salsa Recipe:

So here’s the perfect recipe for a simple, superb salsa.

First, take five medium-sized tomatoes and chop them in your food processor. (My food processor is a small one, so I chop the the tomatoes by hand before I chop the tomatoes!)

Do the same with an onion and about 6 sprigs of cilantro. Add a couple of pinches of salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes,

I know; I know. Some people hate cilantro, but I don’t think you can make salsa without it.

(If you desire my heat, add a jalapeno, with or without the seeds.)

That’s just me.

Mix everything and refrigerate for a few hours before serving with your favorite chips, tacos, burritos, or enchiladas.

Ole!

(Guac is a vegetarian superfood; here’s my recipe!)

(Need a spicier salsa recipe? Try this!)
