The trendiest DIY for kids and teens right now is ….SLIME!

I’m Emily’s daughter, and I’ve written here before, giving you a recipe for regular slime.

(If you missed it, here it is!)

The latest sensation, though, is butter slime, named for its soft, flexible texture.

You’ll need water, borax, glue, along with red, white, and blue clay.

Since July 4th is coming soon, I thought I’d make separate red, white, and blue and then combine them to see what happens.

Here’s the butter slime recipe.

Butter Slime Recipe:

Mix equal parts water and glue.

Mix 1/2 c. of warm water and 1 T of borax together.

Add slowly until it becomes slime.

You won’t use all of the water/borax mixture.

If you enter your email on our Hello bar at the top of our home page, we will be happy to send you FREE a party guide filled with delicious recipes your guests will love! You will love the versatility of these foods and their ease of preparation. We totally respect our readers’ privacy and would never, ever sell personal information.

Once slime is mixed well, add clay slowly, until desired consistency.

I added half the package, then half of that, and half of that, until the entire clay bar was used.

Be aware that mixing the colors will cause the colors to fade into each other and turn purple.

Also, the colors overall start to dull when mixed, but still look cool!

It’s probably better to leave them separate and mix only a small amount together.

Store in containers with tight lids.

Happy Sliming!
