EdD Journey [Moving Forward]

My EdD Journey

Exciting news: I’ve been accepted into an online EdD program, which started in early December!

Ph.D.

No, I’m not totally crazy.

My daughters are now 21 and 17. The oldest is in college, works part-time, and lives on her own. My younger has her permit and her first job.

My husband is independent enough to say, “Do what you need to do.”

My university bosses are supportive.

Now is my chance!

I’ve taught on every level except elementary; I’ve been a freelance writer, too, and now a blogger.

And, it’s been awhile since I earned a Masters!

The EdD (a doctorate in Education) will be my terminal degree, my last one. Various studies I’ve seen cite between 1% and 5% of college graduates ever attain this degree, one reason I want it!

More importantly, though, this degree will open the door for new teaching and administrative possibilities, including the option of teaching on the graduate level or being an academic dean.

Both sound appealing – a change of pace at a new point in life!

Maybe you’ve thought of doing this, too, but didn’t know how it would go.

I’ll keep you posted every so often.

As the saying goes, “So far, so good!”
