Digitally Sharing E-books

Digitally sharing e-books couldn’t be easier!

Tablet owners, listen up.

There’s a feature available to you through Amazon that I just learned. My guess is that several of you aren’t aware, which is why I wanted to share it!

I have roughly 50 books I’ve purchased on Amazon; as you might have guessed, I love to read. While I love the brick-and-mortar bookstores, there are some books I don’t necessarily want in hard copy.

The digital copy is perfect. In more ways than one, it turns out.

Digitally Sharing E-books: Two Catches

When you purchase a book via the Kindle app on the iPad, you can share that book with someone. There are two catches, though.

First, the loan is for 14 days only. If you’re sharing “War and Peace,” make sure your friend is a fast reader!

Second, while your friend is borrowing your book, you can’t access it.

Digitally Sharing E-books: The Process

Here’s what you do.

Login to your Amazon account and click on Accounts and Lists, in the upper right hand corner of the menu bar.

On the next screen, look for “View Your Kindle Orders” in the box labeled “Orders.”

Click on that, and you will immediately see your Kindle books.

There are two boxes to the left of the title, one labeled “Actions.”

Click that to see the menu with the option of sharing, “Loan this title.”

Simply fill out the information requested in the pop-up box, and your friend can read to her heart’s content for two weeks.

While this isn’t necessarily an ideal system (I’d like to be able to continue to read my book, too!), it does provide a measure of freedom to follow your mom’s advice to share!

Pin to read later!
